When Will GTA 6 Release on PC? Exploring the Possibilities

After years of anticipation, the GTA 6 trailer was finally released and it has already amassed over 80 million views in less than one day, which could signal that it could become the biggest video game launch of all time when it is eventually released in 2025.

Unfortunately for some gamers though, it won’t be launching on PC and will instead release on PS5 and Xbox Series X initially. All is not lost though as it will come to PC at a later date and this is when you can expect it.

The Release on Console

Following the release of the GTA 6 trailer, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that the game will be launching first on console, saying,

“ROCKSTAR GAMES, A PUBLISHING LABEL OF TAKE-TWO INTERACTIVE SOFTWARE, INC., IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT GRAND THEFT AUTO VI IS COMING TO PLAYSTATION 5 COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS AND XBOX SERIES X/S GAMES AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS IN 2025.”

Although this will be disappointing news for many players, it isn’t unexpected as Rockstar Games hasn’t released a mainline GTA game on PC at launch since GTA 2 in 1999, with even other franchises often releasing later on PC too.

Looking at Past Releases

Until Rockstar Games announces an official release date for GTA 6 it will be difficult to pinpoint when the game will be released on PC, but taking a look at past releases could help us narrow down an estimated window.

GTA 5 was first released on PS3 and Xbox 360 back in September 2013 and then eventually made its way to PC 19 months later in April 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018 before being followed by a PC port 13 months later in November 2019.

This means we can likely expect the PC release of GTA to be between 12 and 18 months after the console version launches.

Estimating the Release Window

Based on previous release windows, it is likely that GTA 6 could be released between September and November 2025. However, it was recently noticed that a shirt in GTA Online could have been teasing the release date all along as April 2025.

If this release date is correct, then we could expect the PC port to be between April and October 2026. But, if it releases in the latter half of 2025, we may have to wait until between September 2026 and April 2027 for GTA 6 to come to PC.

While these are just estimations, it is important to remember that game development is a complex process and delays can occur. Rockstar Games is known for its dedication to quality and will likely take the time necessary to ensure a smooth and enjoyable PC release.

The Impact on the Gaming Community

The anticipation surrounding GTA 6’s release on PC is a testament to the passionate gaming community. The PC gaming market has grown exponentially in recent years, with more and more players embracing the platform for its enhanced performance, graphics, and modding capabilities.

Given the success of previous GTA releases on PC, it is clear that there is a strong demand for the game on this platform. The addition of GTA 6 to the PC gaming library will undoubtedly attract a large number of players, especially considering the massive success of its predecessor.

It is also worth noting that the timing of the PC release could coincide with advancements in PC hardware, potentially offering an even more immersive and visually stunning experience for players.

Speculation and Rumors

In the absence of an official release date, speculation and rumors surrounding GTA 6’s PC release have been rampant within the gaming community. From discussions on gaming forums to YouTube videos analyzing every pixel of the trailer, fans are eager to uncover any hints or clues about the upcoming release.

Some have suggested that the success of previous GTA PC releases and the ever-growing importance of the PC gaming market could fuel the PC port speculation. Others believe that Rockstar Games is deliberately delaying the PC release to maximize sales on the console platforms.

While it is impossible to say for certain, it is clear that the gaming community eagerly awaits any updates or news regarding the PC release of GTA 6. The game’s release window and any accompanying announcements from Rockstar Games will undoubtedly generate significant buzz and excitement among gaming enthusiasts.

As we patiently await the release of GTA 6 on PC, it is important to remember that great things often come to those who wait. While the initial console launch may disappoint some players, history has shown that Rockstar Games is committed to bringing its flagship titles to PC.

Based on previous release patterns, we can estimate that the PC version of GTA 6 may arrive between 12-18 months after its console release. The specific window is likely to fall between September and November 2025, but some clues, such as an April 2025 tease, suggest a potentially earlier release.

Only time will tell when GTA 6 will grace PC screens, but one thing is certain – it will be worth the wait. With Rockstar Games’ dedication to quality and the enthusiasm of the gaming community, GTA 6’s PC release promises to be a highly anticipated event in the video game industry. Stay tuned for the latest gaming updates and news as the release window approaches, and prepare for an immersive gaming experience like no other.
