Instagram Adds Message Editing and Pinned Chats, Introduces New Themes and Read Receipts Toggle

In a recent announcement, Instagram shared updates to its direct messaging feature. Users can now edit messages and pin chats, allowing modifications within fifteen minutes of sending.

Now, users can edit a message by long-pressing it and selecting “Edit.” The edit will be visible to the recipient, aligning Instagram with features from Facebook and Apple’s iMessage.

Users can pin up to three chats in group or one-on-one conversations. To pin a chat, swipe left or tap and hold, then select “pin” from the menu.

New in Instagram is the option to disable read receipts for specific or all chats. This setting can be accessed through the Messages section in account settings or story replies.

Instagram has introduced various themes for individual chats and a feature to save favorite stickers for easy access in direct messages (DMs). To save stickers, press and hold on them.

These features are now available to Instagram users, with some users experiencing delays in accessing them.
