The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office reports that a shooting spree in Half Moon Bay on Monday afternoon resulted in seven deaths in two locations.

According to the sheriff's office, four people with gunshot wounds were discovered dead at a nursery in the 12700 block of San Mateo Road at about 2:22 p.m. (Highway 92). A second gunshot victim was sent to Stanford Medical Center with critical wounds.

The sheriff's investigators soon discovered three additional gunshot victims who had died at another nursery in the 2100 block of Cabrillo Highway South.

Chunli Zhao, a resident of Half Moon Bay and 67 years old, was named by the authorities as the suspect.

According to the sheriff's office, he was discovered in his car in the parking area of the sheriff's office substation in Half Moon Bay at about 4:40 p.m. and was brought into jail without incident. In his automobile, a semi-automatic weapon was discovered.

Sheriff Christina Corpus of San Mateo County said that Zhao is thought to have acted alone. There was no immediate information about the shooting spree's motivation.
