Modern Warfare 2 has more than 50 weapons, so we're going to break down the best ones to use early on.

In Modern Warfare 2, players can unlock and level up more than 50 weapons. It can be hard to decide which one to use first. We've made a list of the best early-game weapons to help you get started

Modern Warfare 2 is like any other Call of Duty game in that it's important to use the best weapons. With more than 50 weapons to unlock thanks to the new Platform system

Now that we've played the game for a few hours, we're putting together a list of the best weapons to use early on in Modern Warfare 2. This list will likely change as players unlock and level up more weapons,

Shotguns have always been in a strange place in Call of Duty, either being way too strong or almost useless. The Expedite 12 is a good choice, though.

Expedite 12

You shouldn't use the Expedite 12 as your main weapon, just like you shouldn't use any Shotgun as your main weapon. However, if you pair it with an Assault Rifle, you'll have a great weapon for close-range combat thanks to its one-shot ability

Sniping is a big part of Call of Duty, and the MCPR-300, the first Sniper Rifle you unlock, is a great choice.

MCPR-300

The MCPR-300 has everything you could want in a Call of Duty Sniper Rifle. It has a fast ADS speed and a one-shot area that is easy to hit

Marksman Rifles in Call of Duty tend to be either completely broken or useless, but the FTAC Recon in Modern Warfare 2 strikes a good balance between the two.

You'll need to be accurate to get the most out of it, but if you are, you can kill enemies with just a couple of shots to the body and one shot to the head.

The P90 is a true classic that has been added to Modern Warfare 2, and it's a good idea to unlock and level it up early on.

The TAQ-56 is a high-damage Assault Rifle that may have been the best weapon in the Modern Warfare 2 beta. It's great for blocking off lanes and winning those far-out gunfights.

Fast-firing SMGs with good mobility will always have a place in Call of Duty's meta, and the VEL 46, or MP7, from Modern Warfare 2 is an excellent example.

The M4 has been a consistently powerful weapon in every Call of Duty game, and of course, it’s an excellent choice in Modern Warfare 2 as well.

The FSS Hurricane is an excellent choice if you want a gun that is easy to move, doesn't have much recoil, has a long-range, and kills quickly.

The Hurricane made waves in the beta for the same reasons listed above, and it kept all of that power when it went live. Even though it's an SMG, it's a very versatile weapon and the best choice
