In iOS 16.2, Apple Describes What to Do If You Have Problems Accessing a Home

What to do if you can't access a home or accept an invitation in the Home app is outlined in a support page Apple released today to assist customers having problems with HomeKit.

iOS 16.2

Apple advises customers to use the Remove Home option for any listed homes that do not have accessories on an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16.2 or iPadOS 16.2, respectively. If the invited user has a residence with accessories, assistance must be sought from Apple support.

iOS 16.2

Let's say a house doesn't have any listed accessories. The devices of the invited user, the homeowner, and all Apple TV and HomePod devices in the Home must all be reset after it has been deleted from the Home app.

iOS 16.2

The homeowner must then cancel any invitations sent to the invited user and invite them to share Home management again.

iOS 16.2

An invitation to enter a residence must be accepted by the invited user within three hours, after which the invitation expires.

iOS 16.2

Apple's instructions were issued just one day after removing the new Home architecture included in iOS 16.2. Due to several issues customers have reported with the update, Apple is now not enabling users to upgrade to the architecture.
