This Is Probably What Apple's Version of a Turntable Would Look Like, If They Ever Made One

Sir Jony Ive, the former head of design at Apple, has announced his newest endeavor: a partnership with the British audio manufacturer Linn to create a special edition of their Sondek LP12 turntable to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary.

The luxury record player with a price tag of $60,000 is the first non-Apple hardware project that it is known that Ive has been involved in since he and four other former Apple employees left the business in 2019 to start the design firm LoveFrom.

The premium audio technology has all of the traditional traits of an Ive-approved product, like rounded-off aluminum edges, circular parts, and a neutral and minimalistic style.

Ive stated that he has owned various Linn devices over the years and explained that "music has always been profoundly important to me." This statement was made in an interview with Fast Company. He continued by saying:

"As you can probably imagine, the first significant music player I designed was the first iPod, which kicked off a long journey that included multiple generations of iPods, multiple AirPods, and numerous audio accessories.

I am quite lucky to have completed the circuit... after so many years after my initial trip to the facility.

Ive has stated that the LP12-50 was "a very gentle and modest project for us that was motivated by our love and respect for Linn."
