There is a new Outriders PS5 vs Xbox Series X | S framerate test released, showing solid performance across the board.

Last month, YouTube channel VG Tech already analyzed the performance of the game’s demo on consoles. Based on this analysis, it appeared that the game had some performance issues. Additionally, the analysis showed that the Xbox Series X version of the game benefits from the highest native resolution. Fast forward a month and after the game’s release, VG Tech tested the game’s performance again. You can find the new analysis below:

Xbox Series S uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found of 1920×1080 and the lowest native resolution found of 1280×720. Pixel counts with a native resolution of 1280×720 look unusual on the Xbox Series S. The Xbox Series S uses temporary upsampling to reconstruct a resolution of 2560×1440.

PS5 uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found of approximately 3008×1692 and the lowest native resolution found of 1920×1080. Pixel counts with native 1920×1080 resolution seem to be rare on PS5. On PS5, temporary upsampling is used to reconstruct 3840×2160 resolution.

Xbox Series X uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found of approximately 3456×1944 and the lowest native resolution found of 1920×1080. Pixel counts with a native resolution of 1920×1080 seem to be very rare on Xbox Series X and were found less frequently than on PS5. On Xbox Series X, temporary upsampling is used to reconstruct 3840×2160 resolution.

Compared to the demo, the performance has improved, especially on the Xbox Series S where the game runs at a nearly solid 60FPS. As in the demo, Outriders takes advantage of a small resolution advantage over the Xbox Series X, with the game running in a higher native resolution compared to the PS5 version. However, the PS5 version benefits from improved texture filtering compared to the Xbox consoles.

“As an example, at one point in a movie, the Xbox Series X displayed a resolution of approximately 2792×1570 and the PS5 the same scene at 2560×1440,” explains VG Tech. “PS5 and Xbox Series X have extra trees and leaves in some scenes compared to Xbox Series S. PS5 has improved texture filtering compared to the Xbox consoles.”

Outriders is now available worldwide for PC, consoles and Stadia.
