It was an instructive week in things Final Fantasy XVI† Producer Naoki Yoshida gave countless interviews, we’ve rounded up the most important details for you here and taken a closer look at topics like the open world and the party and Torgal.

in the PlayStationBlog Naoki Yoshida shared what makes Final Fantasy so special to him. This is of course quite interesting for his role as producer of Final Fantasy XVI. “I’d say the core elements of a Final Fantasy game are deep story, deep gameplay, advanced graphics and sound…and, of course, chocobos and moogles.”

In the 35-year history of Final Fantasy, there has always been a principle that every director of the next Final Fantasy game should make the “best” in the series. Regardless of the game world, characters and combat system, that would always change.

“As a result, gamers and Final Fantasy fans around the world have very different ideas about what a game in the series is — but to me those elements are those elements,” says Yoshida.

“When I had to make decisions about Final Fantasy XVI, I thought back to the time I played the original Final Fantasy. Back then, I felt like I was starring in a movie,” recalls Naoki Yoshida.

“I wanted that feeling in [Final Fantasy] XVI, but with the latest game design and technology. The entire development team, led by Hiroshi Takai, has come together to make this dream come true and I hope you are all looking forward to it.”

We’re looking forward to it – aren’t we?
