Recent observations indicate that the community of MultiVersus players on Steam has dwindled by over 99% since the game’s debut seven months ago. Currently, less than 1,000 players are reported as the peak daily players on Steam, potentially reflecting the game’s performance across other platforms.

SteamCharts.com reported that the highest player count for MultiVersus stood at 153,044 upon release. By January, the number had dwindled to 230 active players, signifying a 99.8% decline.

Initially showing promise, MultiVersus had the potential for numerous crossovers. However, the game’s lifecycle witnessed a halt, with only one new character added post-November 15th. The commencement of Season Three, expected to introduce more characters, has been postponed to March 31st.

From its inception, MultiVersus faced criticism from players who likened it to a Smash Bros. replica, particularly pointing out the paywall restrictions on premium character skins, despite Warner Bros. claiming over twenty million downloads at launch. Even completing the basic battle pass became an arduous grind many players found unappealing.

MultiVersus currently grapples with challenges stemming from the emergence of competing games like Brawlhalla and backlash from the modding community against DMCA actions.

As per TrueAchievements’ early reports, Xbox platforms witnessed a player decline of approximately 96%, as detailed by VideoGamesChronicle.com.

Stagnant due to dwindling player numbers, public disapproval, delayed updates, and a lack of fresh characters, MultiVersus appears stuck in its current predicament.
