DoorDash Introduces New Features for Users and Delivery People

DoorDash announced a series of new features for its platform on Wednesday. These features aim to provide more options and improve the experience for both delivery people and users.

Earning Options for Delivery People

“Earn by Time” is a new earning option that allows delivery people to earn a guaranteed hourly minimum rate, in addition to 100% of tips. DoorDash has not disclosed the exact hourly rate. The second option, “Earn Per Offer,” offers a streamlined route. Delivery people can see the guaranteed minimum amount they will make plus 100% of tips upfront when choosing this option. Dashers have the flexibility to switch between these two modes at any time during their dash.

Additional Features for Delivery People

  • Delivery people can now receive offers that take them directly to their selected starting point zone through the new “Dash Along the Way” feature.
  • They can share their location with up to five trusted contacts, allowing them to track delivery progress or request assistance if needed.

New Features for Users

  • A universal search bar has been added at the top of the app, enabling users to find anything they need across grocery stores and restaurants.
  • Dedicated tabs for browsing, grocery, and retail make it easier for users to find what they’re looking for.
  • Users can start multiple shopping carts in the app, view and manage them from the cart icon in the top-right corner.

Expanded Payment Options

DoorDash now offers SNAP/EBT online payment for grocery delivery through partners such as ALDI, Albertsons, Safeway, Meijer, and participating 7-Eleven stores.

These updates will gradually roll out to consumers in the US, Canada, and Australia over the next few months.
